Top 5 Indian Series on Netflix to Binge Watch
These days we find really interesting Indian series on Netflix. Some are based on real events whereas some are fictional. Here is a list of those series:
1. Delhi
Crime 2
An Indian crime drama streaming television series written and directed by Richie Mehta, casting director Radhesh More and produced by Golden Karaven, Ivanhoe Productions, Film Karavan and Poor Man's Productions. The series star Shefali Shah, Rasika Dugal, Adil Hussain and Rajesh Tailang. The first season is set in the aftermath of the 2012 Delhi gang rape. The second season focuses on the Chaddi Baniyan Gang. Based on Moon Gazer, a chapter from ex-top cop Neeraj Kumar’s book Khaki Files, the moral dilemmas that have been woven into the narrative gives the series its sharp claws that scratches the conscience. Can an entire tribe be castigated for the transgressions of a few?
2. Sacred
Games
An Indian neo-noir crime thriller streaming television series based on Vikram Chandra's 2006 novel of the same
name. India's first Netflix original series, it was produced and
directed by Vikramaditya Motwane and Anurag Kashyap as Phantom Films. When police officer Sartaj Singh receives an
anonymous tip about the location of criminal overlord Ganesh Gaitonde, he
embarks on a chase around Mumbai in what becomes a dangerous cat-and-mouse
game. Amidst the chaos, trappings of a corrupt underworld are revealed. After
being removed from the Gaitonde case, Singh begins his own investigation as he
works to save Mumbai from impending doom. Flashbacks reveal some of the crimes
that Gaitonde has committed through the years.
3. Jamtara – Sabka Number Ayega
An Indian crime drama web television series created & directed by Soumendra
Padhi and written by Trishant Srivastava. The story revolves around the social engineering operations in
the Jamtara district
of Jharkhand. Cousins Sunny and Rocky and their friends run a
wildly successful phishing scam from the remote village of Jamtara in
Jharkhand; things go awry when the scam gets ousted in a news report.
4. House
of Secrets: The Burari Deaths
Netflix has been stepping
up the game with every true crime documentary it’s producing in the Indian
context. House of Secrets: The Burari Deaths (released on
October 8, 2021) follows the successful formula of Indian
Predators and Crime Stories: Indian Detectives but
is also Netflix’s most ambitious and challenging Indian docuseries yet. In
2018, 11 members of the Chundawat family were found dead in their house in Sant
Nagar, Burari, Delhi, with their eyes blindfolded. This gruesome incident forms
the premise of the three-episode docuseries House of Secrets: The
Burari Deaths, directed by Leena Yadav.
5. Indian Predator: The Butcher of Delhi
An Indian Netflix true crime docuseries
which premiered on 20 July 2022. Produced by VICE India and
directed by Ayesha Sood, The Butcher of Delhi explores the
both the police investigation and motives of Chandrakant Jha,
a serial killer who, in 2006–2007, left three decapitated victims outside
the Tihar Jail accompanied
by mocking notes. It is the first in a Netflix true crime series about serial
killers. The Butcher of Delhi revisits the case of
Chandrakant Jha, who was convicted in 2013 for three murders that were
committed in the capital between 2003 and 2007.
